Mail Order Plants and Seeds

Park Seed
I have ordered seed from Park's Seed for nearly 30 years. In all that time I have only experienced 2 problems and they were quick to make it right. Even though I order online these days, I still look forward to the arrival of the print catalog each year.

Jene’s Tropicals Florida Tropical Plants
I have ordered several quality fruit trees from Jene's without a problem. One thing I must point out to fellow Floridians: When you look at their shipping costs, you may be tempted to cancel your order. I'm not sure why they have it on their website as they do. Perhaps this is a worst-case scenario. But I can tell you that the shipping for the plants I ordered never came close to what their website suggested. Before ordering, give them a call. Get clarification on the shipping cost. Also, if you are looking for a specific variety, maybe a mango that you didn't see on their site, call and ask. Often they have plants that are not listed on the site.

Pine Island Nursery
I have never ordered plants from this nursery. They don't exactly make online ordering convenient. However, I highly recommend a visit to their website They have good comparison charts for magos, avocados, dragon fruit and lychee.

The Banana Tree Banana rhizomes
I have ordered seed and banana rhizomes from The Banana Tree. Seed for tropical fruit trees and spices can be short-lived so propagation can be hit and miss. However, cherries, guava and papaya germinate very easily. One of the banana trees started from rhizome flowered and fruited within the first year of planting. They grow so quickly, I see no reason to spend more money on buying rooted plants. The website also offers gardening forums.

George's Sweet Potato Farm
This is where I ordered sweet potato slips last spring. Even though you have to print out and mail their order form, I highly recommend this source for sweet potatoes. They know their stuff.
