WordThunder Update
For the past couple of years WordThunder has appeared practically inactive. I haven’t participated online much at all—real life being a bit overwhelming. Yet, I continue to write every moment possible.
Here is a brief rundown of where we’re at and where we’re headed.
I am within a couple of weeks of completing my novel And The Dominoes Fall. The pre-release version, that is. This being my first Christian novel, I wish to make a pre-release version available for comment to some trusted friends and relatives who hold a wide range of religious views.
This version will also be available for purchase for a limited time—six weeks to two months. Since this is not the final version, and is only meant for limited release, I plan to sell it through the WordThunder Store at CafePress. In other words, while this version is being created for comment prior to the novel’s actual release, everyone is welcome to buy a copy. If interested, please check back regularly to find out when it will be available.
In addition to my novel, my older sister Vera and I are helping our mother prepare the manuscript for a book about her life. She has been working on this project for at least ten years. This is definitely a family venture. My son John is currently scanning using OCR to take the manuscript from typed pages into a digital format. In this true account of her extraordinary life, my mother writes about my father’s difficult childhood and about her own struggles growing up as a tenant farmer’s daughter during The Great Depression. My mother is a natural storyteller and I have always credited her with instilling in me the desire to write.
Since color digital printing is now priced within reason, I decided to publish a booklet displaying my father’s Rubik Cube designs to be released simultaneously with my mother’s memoirs.
Wow! This brings us to three books currently in production. What a challenge! This would be overwhelming if I didn’t have John to OCR the one book, and to design the covers and the layout for the Rubik’s Cube book.
Besides writing, I have been obsessing over converting my small yard into an edible landscape. Honestly, with food prices continually rising why not use what space is available to grow what food I can? I have always grown herbs, some vegetables and citrus, but now am expanding in every direction possible. Now, I wish to chronicle my gardening experiments online. Stay tuned. We shall see how this evolves.
WordThunder as a Promotional Site For Writers: I simply don’t have the time to manage a site like the old WordThunder, and haven’t for the past couple of years. Honestly, I don’t see that changing. Besides, that’s really not where my heart is at these days. Between my writing, experimental gardening projects and volunteer work at my church, my plate is pretty full. There are many great sites for writers run by dedicated individuals. I am confident that with a bit or research you will find plenty of websites eager for your participation.
Have a wonderful, inspired day and please come back often to visit.
